What sort of rider is catered for?

All types, the Portes du Soleil works hard to cater for all levels from the leisure cyclist with families to XC MTBikers. But it is famous for the Downhill MTBikers. Together with the Freeride MTBikers they flock here in their thousands to test their skills against the prepared DH courses and try the new jump parks and 'Shore' areas in Les Gets. However this is a bonus for all, as the XC trails and remote single tracks are now free of the full face helmet and body armour clan looking for a bigger drop, so it leaves the peaceful remote sections for the more adventurous MTbiker to explore. At the other end of the spectrum, the village trails and double track are enough for novices and families to ride and get around on.  Bike rental ususally costs between €25 and €70 per day, depending on the level of bike.

Cross Country

For the x-country die-hards, the almost never-ending trails wind their way up and down the mountains, through the alpine forests, crossing rivers and through alpine pastures. Covering the boarder between France & Switzerland the trails are superb examples of mountain biking at its best.

The 'Tour' of the Portes-du-Soleil is an 80km marked trail looping round the whole regin. Utilising the network of lifts the tour gives an amazing 80% downhill, 15% on the flat, and just 5% climbing

The recent world championships held in Les Gets consisted of a course of 6.5 miles with 30% singletrack and an elevation change of 200m per lap.

Unique in the world : 380 km of MTB signposted paths, 24 lifts, an FFC circuit of 100 km, 10 downhills runs, trial circuits, biker-cross and riding schools !

Freeride & Downhill

The Portes-du-Soleil contains 11 permanent downhill tracks, graded using a colour coding system; blue, red, black (although don't worry, there are by-passes for the trickiest sections!).
